the first snow of 2004 fell here on the eve of thanksgiving, crushing and uprooting the tall evergreen in my back yard and laying a thick, heavy coating of white drifts on my roof and gutters and all the bare branches surrounding my house. the snow crystals layered on the windows in the morning sparkled and gave the entire house a kind of otherworldly faerie glow . .an eerie, almost supernatural aura. i am pink today. satiated from last night's celebration with friends and grateful for all the days that have arrived and continue to present themselves like little presents to open and share. i have time now to rest a little here. read, listen, think. and then, somersault into the icy whoosh of december.
