the high risk gallery opening was a huge success with over 300 people cramming the very hip digs in chicago's lesbigay epicenter known as lakeview--lots of very talented painters, visual artists and guests mulling around the bright red punch bowls and everyone nodding to the guitars from a local grunge band. it felt just like a giddy party. this is a snapshot of dawn's partner angela (far right) and her co-worker fawning over dawn's artwork and my poetry. despite my recoccuring flu fever i made it to the gala and enjoyed the swirl!

what i thought was a simple head cold flared into full blown flu yesterday, complete with debilitating body aches and fever. spent the day in bed petting kitty and listening to old anne murray songs as i drenched my sweatshirt and blankets. i'm stumbling through today with some improvement here--thanks to loads of tylenol and echinecea tincture. tonight is the opening of "the rosary walk" exhibit at high risk gallery in chicago's lakeview neighborhood. dawn's work is hanging up next to my poems and i couldn't be more thrilled. the event starts at seven and i'm determined to be there.

back from vegas with a full blown head cold! but the four days spent there were heaven! the new york new york hotel gave us an oversized corner suite overlooking the swimming pool (which we swam in twice). and we sank happily into the hotel spa treatments (deep tissue massage and steam), an herbal oxygen bar at ceasar's palace, and a psychic reading from a woman at the aladdin hotel who was recommended to us on the plane ride over. in between we ate the most delicious contemporary chinese food at the minimalist and chic "pearl" restaurant at the mgm hotel, saw the ultra spectacular clint holmes from second row center (yes, i have a crush on a vegas lounge singer now!), supped with frank sinatra's ghost at william b's steakhouse at the classic stardust hotel, walked around in 110 degree weather until my feet were swollen, swooned at the cirque du soleil's erotic, late night "zumanity" show, and played the roulette wheel and monopoly slot machines until my traveler's cheques were all spent! hot tea, bedrest, and two or three alleves for me please!
