a day without any media. no political pundits. no war reports. no soap operas. no sitcoms. no commercials. just trees. a path. blue sky. breeze. a lake. flowers. me.
i'm resting tonight after the tooth surgery. my jaw is sore and i'm feeling drowsy. i haven't slept well in quite a while. new moon today in virgo with an emphasis on creating order out of chaos and working on issues of health and discipline. okay, it's time to get on that exercise mat again! i felt so good this summer, walking, meditating, writing, thinking. that's something i'm determined to keep incorporating into my regime when i go back to teaching at the end of the month. i'm going to fall into dreams and start afresh tomorrow.
well it's official. i'm going in for a root canal! not the best news of course, but i'm glad it's getting taken care of quickly. in the meantime, i find myself with all the nerves in my head sort of inflamed and on fire. i'm downing advils like tic tacs. consequently, i find that i have much less tolerance for the scowling man who is waiting in line at the walgreens pharmacy, dressed in a leather vest and army fatigues, with a tatoo on his forearm that says: "gun 'em down!" much less patience for vanity license plates that say: "8 magnum" or "booty". withering hopes for a local general bookstore that stocks mainly right wing, fundamentalist "literature", etc., etc.
i say tomorrow will be better. after all, oprah is giving away free cars. sharon stone won an emmy for her role on "the practice." hbo just reran "the laramie project" and i sat and watched it and cried, thinking, maybe things can get better. maybe people can offer one another some compassion and faith. . .sure, why not?
