i'm feeling it--this toothache that is. three days of anbesol gel, tylenol sinus, and advil is enough to make anyone a bit cranky i guess. the pain is so persistant in fact that i'm waking up at 3 a.m. with an ache behind my eye and watching promotional programming for hair loss cures and exercise equipment until daybreak. okay i'm going to the dentist this week, i've promised myself. in the meantime, i'm also trying some acupressure points and that seems to offer some relief as well.
i keep returning to three summer memories that all occurred last week: a fabulous lunch with dawn on the sunny rooftop of the pegasus restaurant in chicago's greektown (shared dolmades and mousaka with boiled dandelions for an appetizer), driving with mary and getting lost on a backroad winding through cornfields on the way to a labor day party, (listening to old dionne warwick songs and laughing to the lyrics to her tune "paper mache"), and finally, taking a walk through the lush danada woods and stopping along the path to read the latest book by terry tempest williams entitled "red" --just slowing down there in the green grove and breathing.
the new erotic travel tales anthology,
"foreign affairs" is now out and i just received my press copy. my story "mer boy" is couched among some fine reads including mitzi szereto's "odalisque", gwen masters' "biloxi", and donna george storey's "ukiyo". i love traveling around the globe erotically.
i haven't put together a mixtape for september because i've been listening to a very broad range of music. i'm still attracted to "saltwater" by chicane and i've had jill scott's new single "golden" on replay for the past week. also on my listening list this month are the songs "beauty" by david mead, "ghost" by eastmountainsouth, "that's life" by julia fordham, and (i still can't believe it) hilary duff's "fly". hilary duff! good lord!
okay okay, i couldn't resist taking the "what movie are you" personality test. i thought the results were pretty good--and i love wuthering heights! "heathcliff .. is that you?"
