a full day with abra, phi phi, and the children who just flew in from europe and kyra! what a wonderful romp through naperville, eating veggie pizza at lou malnati's then strolling along the riverwalk . .fantastic! we did an amazing i-ching reading on abra's life purpose that was phenomenal, reminding all of us that there are "invisible helpers" every step of the way . .one only has to look up and say yes!

i went into chicago for an acupuncture treatment and stopped by chicago's new millennium park. i was amazed by the big steel bean sculpture. you look up and the three-dimensional imaging is terrific fun. the best part of the enterprise, besides walking next to the video screen fountain in 95 degree weather, is the current art exhibt called "the family album" by paris photographer uwe ommer. the exhibit shows snapshots of families from over 145 countries and offers a small insight into some of their dreams for the future. quite moving.

letters, i love to get letters: received a wonderful response to my book "dervish" from gay playwright robert patrick: "Well, I have done you the great insult of reading "Dervish" clear through at a setting, rather than giving each poem the individual time and respect it deserves. Forgive me, but I am such a lover of fine writing and fine writers that after reading one I instantly wanted to know as much as possible about its author. I finished the book with an overwhelming cumulative sense of time's transience, love's sweetness, sex's power, and your erudition. I will be re-reading each poem separately, I have no doubt." i'm so happy it was well received--it really means a lot to me.

went into the city with mary to lay down the vocal tracks for "the rosary walk" at eddie's studio. it was an amazing day--so much talk about symbolism, the impulse to create, connection with the larger world, voice and vision . .like breathing oxygen after so long . .it was so magical. everyone in the city seemed to open their arms to us, offering us directions and giving us free rides on the cta as we walked around with dead cell phones and watchless wrists. we ended the long recording session with a delicious dinner where i ate an amazing panang curry at the yes thai restaurant. it's good to collaborate.
