these songs have kept me sane this past week: "life for rent" by dido, "once i was mighty" by martina sorbara, "a face in the crowd," by rickie lee jones, "mercury" by kathleen edwards, "please come to boston" by dave loggins, "i thought about you" by billie holiday, "lover's cross" by jim croce, "time" by sarah mclachlan, and "save somebody" by janis ian. looking forward to the new cyndi lauper album of cover songs next week.

enter the grey. work through december and january. prepare for spring. lilac buds. warm rain. glow.

been editing the new manuscript . .getting down to the bones of it . .what to keep in, what to keep out . .the poems calling out to breathe again .. i'm feeling mercurial . .quick with the pen and certain . .not me here, but the essence of what needs to be said . .that vast and wise spirit channeling through me . .these words not belonging to me alone but needing to be set free in the world so there is room to create more . . .

identity crisis . .but temporary . .needing support and needing to create that cherished network around me . . everywhere . .at the college, at home, with my creative work, my close ones . ..i no longer wish to be cut off from what feels vital, necessary, essential. the project: to write, to invite, to enliven, to become.

yoga stretches the other day and deep breathing made me feel ahhhh . .made me feel . .awake .. somehow, newer. there is another layer. another way of moving about in the world. look, see, live. for now i need this silence. this moment of composure. deep breath . .in . .now exhale . .ahhh.
